Sunrise Yoga
When we first wake up, the natural tendency is to move, in a rather unconscious way, allowing the body to do what it knows best, without the mind being in charge. In this class, we will often focus on larger, more flowing movements, and as the name implies, we will frequently explore sun salutations, as well as spontaneous movement. Let us open our bodies to improve our breathing, circulation, awareness, and vitality. These one-hour sessions will help tone all aspects of our wellness, as we provide a program that is gently vigorous and nurturing. This time frame will also offer another option for those previously unable to attend our morning classes.

Yoga Sutras and Meditation
Meditation in a group setting has particularly powerful effects. There is less oppportunity to give in to distractions and the group energy is supportive and inspiring. Meditation is different than active prayer. In meditation we allow the buried layers of subconcious material to rise to the surface to be realized and released. Meditation relieves the deepest layers of stress that accumulate in the body/mind and heals the heart. It is a way of knowing and becomming friendly with ourselves. Practiced regularly meditation keeps stress at bay, the mind alert, and has many healing effects on the body. Classes will begin with a reading and discussion on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali followed by a short yoga sequence to prepare the body/mind for seated meditation. Guided breathwork and visualization will focus the mind and bring awareness to the subtle aspects of the self. There are 200 Yoga Sutras that provide the essential knowledge of yoga. We are moving through the Sutras from beginning to end. Beginners and experienced practitioners are all welcome!
